“The test booklet contains two sections: (1) the student answer sheets for the listening comprehension tests and (2) the written tests for each lesson. For convenience and ease of scoring, the two tests (listening comprehension and written) for each lesson total 100 points. These tests should be given after the completion of each lesson. Students use the answer sheets while listening to the audio cassettes which direct them step by step to follow along and complete specific tasks as described. The test activities include true/false (ja/nein) and other multiple choice statements as well as fill-in-the-blank sections based on the recorded material. Wherever appropriate, picture cues further assist students to select appropriate choices as directed by the speakers. The written tests are intended to measure the students’ understanding of the language and cultural content of each lesson. There are two achievement tests included in the testing program. Achievement Test I follows Lesson 5, and Achievement Test II follows Lesson 10. Both tests contain 150 points each and should be given as end-of-semester tests. The material in each achievement test summarizes the previous five lessons and tests the students’ understanding of that material. Both listening comprehension and written tests are included.
“The teacher’s edition includes a complete answer key to the listening comprehension and written tests.
“The audio cassettes have the recorded sound track for the listening comprehension tests.”
